But upon closer look, it will be evident that this Italian city has much to offer as vacation spot. For those taking an extensive European tour, not including Milan in their list would be an inexcusable mistake especially if they are fashion lovers. Italian designers lead the world in fashion and automobiles and their brands have a steady following everywhere. Some of the most notable among them: Giorgio Armani, the evergreen rule-maker of Italian fashion started his career in Milan, as a buyer for Rinascente. But he later quit to take up designing and has been a renowned success ever since. Miuccia Prada, took over the family business which specialized in bags and leather accessories in 1978. Today Prada stands as a dream brand and not wanting to be just a “bright spot” in fashion, Prada also founded the Fondazione Prada- an artistic library and window for international artists. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, more popular as just Dolce & Gabbana- are the most famous couple in the fashion industry. Their career took off in 1985 and they continue to hold a huge share of importance. in this industry. Some others to be names include- Valentino, Versace, Bvlgari, Roberto Cavalli, Nino Cerruti, Ferrari, Lamborgini, etc (phew!). Ranking along with New York, Paris and London, the Milan fashion week is a much awaited and noted event in the fashion industry. Designers, buyers, journalists, celebrities and others interested in following the latest in fashion throng the city during this time. Missing the fashion week does not mean all is lost though, as this city is dotted with all the designer showrooms. The most famous in fashion streets is Via Montenapoleone and it houses the atelier-showrooms of Gucci, Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo, Fratelli Rossetti, Etro, Loro Piana, Luis Vuitton, Prada, Valentino, Cartier and Tanino Crisci. So shopaholic or not, Milan is a must-visit place, just to drink in all the trends created by the fashion houses. For your stay at there- 4 Star Hotel Milan will provide excellent accomodation.
